ALL STUDENTS READING:   30 minutes of reading.  This week, the reading materials can be of personal choice.  Students must log turn in a page with the name(s) of the Title of what they read, how many pages, and how many minutes ON THE LOG SHEET.  BONUS POINTS will be added to Language Arts grade for minutes above and beyond the required reading time.

All STUDENTS SPELLING :  1st-2nd Grade write your spelling words 3 times each.  Grades 3-7 write your spelling words 6 times each.  Spelling test will be on Tuesday morning.  There will not be study time in school again before the test.

Students in GRADES 1-4 also need to do 1 additional activity off of the Spelling Activities List that is located in the Homework Helpers section of their Homework Journals.  Parents need to list and sign what was done for the additional activity (ies) here.

PERSONAL ASSIGNMENTS:  There may be some pages of unfinished schoolwork that are in your student’s homework journal today.  Any pages that are not finished as of this afternoon, that I have caught still needing to be done, are 3-hole punched and added to the journal.  Please check  your child’s journal to be sure you do not need to help them spend time finishing up.

ALL STUDENTS MATH: Everyone would benefit from spending some time with Math Flash Cards on their age level skills.  We have been reviewing math topics this week, and it is apparent that there is some rustiness.  Your help in reviewing the basics will be tremendously important.  I will give bonus points in math for every 15 minutes spent doing a flash card type drill on addition/subtraction/multiplication/division/reducing fractions flash cards/drill  that is turned in.  Parents you must sign that either you participated with, or under your shared supervision (ie grandparents, babysitter, etc.) participated with this math drill for the turned in time.

You can use computer drills, game drills electronically, drill games, etc. to accomplish this.

*** You can log in the math drill done during the week when you get the new math logs each week!! **

Grades 5-8 Social Studies:  WORLD MAPS ARE DUE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20,2010

Students have a list of 24 major items that will be counted for their labeled maps- they may add to themaps for bonus points.  They will also be graded on having items in the general area and shape that they need to be, as well as their neatness and creativity.  There will be points deducted for projects that are not turned in on time.

HAVE YOU BEEN SIGNING your child’s HOMEWORK JOURNAL EACH DAY?  Students will be receiving extra punches on their Star Student Cards for bringing their homework journals each day- signed by a parent.                                                                                                                                        (Cont. on back)

ALL STUDENTS BIBLE:  Each week students receive a new verse to memorize.  They need to say the verse correctly on 3 different days in order to get the verse signed off.  We have a chart hanging on the classroom door.  The first time a student correctly says the verse, they get a \, the second time the  slash is turned into an X, the third time they have a sticker placed on the verse to show that they have mastered the verse and that it is hidden in their hearts.  Your help at home by having the students practice their verses makes this a more meaningful and lasting experience for your students.  Memory Verses to help your child practice:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23
